Stateside actor Finn, who appeared in popular programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA recently after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits are "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
