Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
