Fresh Particulars Emerge Regarding the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
New information has come to light regarding the untimely passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence home on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source also disputed several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the scene. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
