Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with results this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
