The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the channel launched a completely new animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by dark humor, this show's sincerity struck a chord and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and supported its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about watching this charming family go about their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to evolve comedy past its prevailing layer of irony. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
