From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
