The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
