Ways the Denver Broncos together with their 'play-dough' QB can stop that Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features text commentary of Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard through designated networks for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and following recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests was the number of penalties each committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.
However it was good to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos prevailed in that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily sending extra defenders but they could plug two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up significantly while new running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
That shows how Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable down and distances.
It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to pass all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.
His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, as well as using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you constantly rush it consumes the clock and forces the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must defend the area vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.
Nix has bitten back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly build something up the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and build confidence.
I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a solid position to hold their division. The key to do is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their strength, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win a game.
Since the league began tracking takeaways in 1933, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.
This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they face since the Broncos {beat|def
